The 18 NCP types described in IPBES 2019 (ref. 17) are classified as regulating, material or nonmaterial. b, Each of these NCP types is either directly or indirectly supported by wildlife functions. In some cases, WCP and NCP overlap as wildlife’s contributions are already recognized as NCP. WCP can contribute to NCP positively and/or negatively (indicated by arrows).
Chaplin-Kramer and colleagues argue that wildlife are central to human well-being but often overlooked in policy and management. go.nature.com/4jdjVbv

Fun fact: there is data showing that the flu vaccine significantly reduces neurodegenerative diseases in the long run and the use of antibiotics in the months after vaccination.
I suapect other vaccines have similar effects, but haven't seen studies to that effect.

Fact-checking wasn’t “biased” against conservatives. Conservatives just shared more false content. If there’s a sportsball game and one team fouls four times as much, it’s not “biased” for the ref to call four times as many fouls against that team.

As academic Bluesky grows, researchers find strengths—and shortcomings
Platform fosters collegial interactions among scientists, but potentially limits interactions beyond the academic community
Great piece by @kakape.bsky.social about BlueSky and the growth of its academic community

Gestern erst darüber gesprochen mit Wissenschaftlerinnen aus einem anderen Feld (Verhaltensbiologie).
Mixed feelings everywhere 😕
