The track is illuminated not by the locomotive but by the grain elevator’s window, which is neat it throws that far, but don’t really want it THAT bright

Controller also has an accessory output which I’m using for building illumination buuuuut I didn’t bother measuring the output voltage, just used a resistor which I figured would keep the LED safe from burning up, BUT I think I need a higher ohm one because it’s REALLY bright in low light! 💡

Got a good deal on a BN SD40-2 on FleaBay which arrived, so now I can finish the tunnel now that I have something to test clearance with!

(Also pretty neat the Rokuhan Z Scale controller I’m using can provide a very low voltage to keep the locomotive’s lights on at a stop)

Yeah! Dig they’ve also kept a lot more aesthetic details from the original film (ship aside, even some of the earth stuff), and the soundtrack nods have been great

I thought it was a movie when I saw trailers because the production quality is REALLY good, and yesssss, they’ve done a good job with some quick teases and anxiously awaiting more moments to squirm uncomfortably 🫣

Checked out Alien: Earth and I dig it so far!

I’m very yawn on the xenomorph after so many movies, so I’m glad there’s new alien creepy crawlies (which when compared to the trillionaire created hyper-capitalist hellscape future offer at least a shorter suffering)

Still need to finish the tunnel/mountain and plaster over it, the foam ridges and the river, but wanted to build these kits because I love doing it AND I wanted to see how it’ll all look

I didn’t want to grain elevator to be the tallest feature, so now I know how much taller to make the mountain ⛰️🚂

Started another Archistories Z Scale kit for the tiny layout, a grain elevator!

The kit is bundled with an AZL PS2-CD hopper, this red variant came with a Frito Lay hopper, which is perfect because corn chips! 🐾

(Also threw an LED in there, because might as well! 💡)
