Of all the accounts on the lists today, this one that's been around for a while has to be the best representation of the current US government.

Since I went to block each individually:
* Most of them are following "Bluesky Trending"
* Most of them have a post within the last hour or so / first post with the same talking point.

So: they really want their propaganda to be trending. Expect a follow-on bot network boosting them.

This is an obvious propaganda push, give the first post from almost every one of the accounts on this list.

For some reason, today seems like a good day for the periodic reminder to block and move on.

So I guess Google is going to spam me once a day for every app I'm connected to that has the recent Unity security flaw, reminding me that the app needs to be updated? I didn't really need a functional inbox, right? I'm sure they offer an "AI" solution to deal with the noise they're generating.

There is a 100% chance on any project that a new programmer will come in and suggest using some tool feature or technology that the team tried in the past and found it caused more problems than it solved.

Quick napkin math: the Unity security flaw has so far cost me around $5K of my time for all the various updates it forced, if I were billing at usual contract rates. But since they're my own company's apps, I just get to eat that cost.

One cool feature of Steam is they provide a Harassment Zone for each game you announce. It's a place for people who hate progress to come and crap all over games they haven't even played. No, they won't help you moderate it, but hey, at least you can't delete it!

For the record, Rider is still *way* better than Visual Studio which now seems to have nonstop copilot pushed at you every time you try to do anything. At least Rider lets me remove and/or disable all the unwanted genAI.

Any software that defaults to opt-out instead of opt-in data collection, definitely would fall under that policy.

See: student. Sure, they shouldn't and should have their own commercial license. But as they're on contract rather than employees, I cannot control the tools they use as that violates one of the requirements that separates contract from employment.

My only real option now is to have a policy that says contractors who work for us cannot use Rider.

For the less snarky take: Say I, as someone who has a company that sometimes hires contractors some of who are students, ends up hiring someone who has a non-commercial license for Rider. They open my company's project with Rider, which now leaks our code into your dataset. By default.

After building and installing software on a fresh Windows 11 system over the weekend: the "AI" bubble needs to pop immediately and everybody involved needs to never have a job in tech or a tech-adjacent field again.

The install was a couple days straight of nothing but ads upselling "AI"

Cookie setting for "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information/ Opt-Out of Targeted Advertising" with a slider set to "Active"

This is the most disgusting cookie preference setting I've seen. Does "Active" mean "cookies that track you are active" like every other site on the internet? Or does "Active" mean those cookies are disabled and that is opting out?

Working on migrating to a new machine, and as an industry we *really* need to standardize on where we put game saves. So far, have found data in locations with permutations of the installed game directory, Documents, My Games, Saved Games, steam folder, studio name, game name, game working title
