Funny how I was talking with a friend the other day about Z-A being the one Pokemon game I can go into blind, and then I proceed to get bombarded with shitty spoiler thumbnails on YouTube by content creators I’ve either never watched before or haven’t watched in YEARS.

Given the amount of people that still think Red & Blue’s gen 1 designs are Ash & Gary, I reaffirm that people probably get tangled between the anime & games when it comes to those discussions.

It’s probably why this sentiment exists. Frankly, I personally felt that Gens 7 & 8 had a good ideas on how to maintain both friends and edgy/jerky rivals, but it definitely could’ve been done a bit better in terms of long term character development. Like Paul for example.

I think it’s mainly nostalgia, combined with people’s intrigue with the jerky rivals present in the anime.
For example; Gary Oak was way more of an eccentric asshole compared to his game self during the early seasons, always getting one up on Ash, and kids just wanted to see his ass get humbled.

Hoping my local store has plenty of Z-A copies in stock by the time I’m off the clock.

Ended up updating my sprite again as I was reformatting the main sheet. Gonna finish organizing stuff, then I’ll try to do some more action animations for the project.

Caught wind of that the other day.
There seems to be way more friction within the discussion compared to the sombrero Mario one. There’s either some people speaking for others while not being from that culture, or people from that culture divided on whether it’s truly offensive or not a big deal.

Well, my Mario sprite project is officially continued. Here’s some progress on the Mushroon Kingdom tileset, Peach’s MKW Touring outfit, and a retouched jump animation for my Mario. All still a WiP.
