Your job is to check for correctness, spot errors or gaps, protect the integrity of the scientific method, not piss on others.

Overall it was a passing performance at the level I needed, which is what matters. But man, I never thought I’d be having to process the relationship between this deeply personal part of my life and how that’s quantified to complete strangers. Surreal.
Results: perfect scores on the oral exam and reading comprehension, near-perfect on ‘language building blocks’ and listening comprehension, and… near-failing on the writing.
THIS is why I cried a few times prepping. I speak German and it is one of my languages now, but I don’t speak telc-German.
I had to take a German test recently, the studying for which brought me to tears multiple times because I was unavoidably confronted with the fact that my German has largely been *acquired* and not *learned*
As a linguist, this is my ideal approach to language. As an immigrant, it was damaging.

No shade to TESOL/CC comrades; my family would never have been able to afford to send me to a 4yr school for an entire degree- my local junior college was the foundation of my eventual BA.
This year I saw someone brand themselves online as a ‘former Professor of English’ and it turns out they were a TESOL adjunct at a community college for one semester.
I can’t exactly explain it, but this is the vibe I want to bring in 2026.
