Today I am finishing this #painting ... I know, it looks suspiciously finished, but it is not. It is 99.9% finished. This weekend we brave the 0.1%. And then I will ... hold your breath ... be selling prints. And maybe the jigsaw puzzle suggested, because we do love puzzles in this house. #artyear

Hello. Thank you π Unfortunately not for sale as it is promised to my daughter. BUT I am working on getting a site up for prints. Slowly - so slowly - working on it in the cracks of a busy life (hence the slow reply to comments - I really need to work on that!)

Hibiscus flower plucked from the garden this winter, and added to my eclectic decor styling of miniature teapots, candles, statues and ... of course ... a painting. The proud bloom is displayed in a curious violet and white striped blown glass vase sitting on top of a polished slice of a geode. Don't ask why, I don't know. These things find me. The geode coaster was abandoned by the previous owner of my house, who for some reason put it in the pool shed. The remainder - things people gift me when they declutter their house or my adventures into the charity store for treasures. Wooden candlesticks - improbable but true. I like improbable truths. Like tropical blooms in a temperate winter.
I am reawakening the socials like a hibiscus blooming in winter.
Before anyone tells me it is not winter. I live in Australia. And yes, the hibiscus blooms improbably.
Things GROW here in winter. Summer is the death season.
So I grow. I've been tending a THING. It is still in bud ... slow bloom πΈ

Work in progress with acrylic on a large canvas (approx 1x1.5m). Two figures emerging, mother and daughter. The mother wears a shawl and is surrounded by drooping sunflower like plants, symbolising harvest time and maturing into legacy, while the daughter is close, seeking connection to her lineage - the passing of the seeds to the next generation.
Work in spiral progress. Tinkering a paintover, and my daughter "Why are you ruining my favourite painting?π‘" ... so it spirals back to the old story ... and you can not step in the same river twice, but you can run upstream and catch a leaf. And she was right.

Altered book art journal fix - spelling corrections!
Cacophony.
Written with a cheap lwttering stencil.
How to spell cacophony.
#artlesson
π
Why is spelling so hard when lettering???
Finishing old art journals because I yearn for a sense of completion.
One day I hope someone will look at this and think - "how fascinating", and not "that's not how you spell cacophony".

Art journal spread in altered book. Mixed media collage, paint, pen, pencil.
Stencilled word "cacophony" on the right facing page surrounded by a patchwork of red patterned collage and doodles exploding out with found words.
On the left, a female figure in blue sits calmly meditating, with a bird with a red heart on a pile of rocks. More found words "here is your home", "at the heart, inhabit a timeless universe with simplicity".
Finding quiet amidst the cacophony.
I finally found time for arting and fixed an #artjournal
spread that went awry ... in 2013.
There was so much cacophony, I couldn't spell cacophony.
Less cacophony now.
Amended my signature to just Lynda - no more family names claiming me in my #art.

Photo of a picture frame with purple velvet inlay, a book on ancient Egypt and instructional book on oil painting, placed on vintage Persian rug. Afternoon sun casting shadows because I am too impatient to take photos in ideal lighting.
I do not need any more books or picture frames, and yet ...
I have an obsession with velvet and the colour purple, so when I saw a $2 frame at the charity store with purple velvet π
Also, if the internet goes down, I have a library to keep me amused and educated for 100 years.

Intuituve painting in progress. Acrylic on canvas. A veiled figure wearing a geometric patterned cloak emerging from foliage and flowers looking down on a peacock like bird.
I've been avoiding painting, so last Sunday I went in my arty studio and said "you will paint". After about 5hrs of rearranging paint brushes and paints, browsing art books, starting up a painting class video, journaling about not painting, a nausea spinning panic attack ... painted. #artyear

A watercolour landscape painting with unusual colour choices. Dusty pink cows graze in a yellow field behind a red fence. A cluster of three red-trunked trees with orange leaves is growing on the left side of the field. In front of the fence are gentle orange hills. Behind is a row of deep magenta trees. Above is a magenta sky with fluffy light pink clouds.

Roadside sign of a horse at my local train station against a background of blue skies and gum trees.
Parked at the local train station recently and thought ... damn, when did the horses disappear?
When I grew up, everyone had a friend or a neighbour who owned a horse.
Just memories and old road signs now. Time marches on.
