It's been several years since a team from the country's most populous city has played in the SHL since DjurgΓ₯rdens was relegated to HockeyAllsvenskan a while back. Also, games between AIK and DjurgΓ₯rdens are absolute blood baths. The rivalry is incredibly heated.

With DjurgΓ₯rdens and AIK both making the HockeyAllsvenskan finals, we will finally see a Stockholm team in the SHL next season as the winner of this series earning a promotion. This is something @gmillertsn.bsky.social likes to remind us every time he calls an int'l game Team Sweden is playing in.

Very excited to see Saroya Tinker heading to PWHL Ottawa's training camp this fall. Big, strong defensive defenseman who fills a big need as a right shot. If she makes the team, she'll be a fan favourite with how great she is off the ice as well.

Axel Sandin Pellikka this season:
6 GP
17:54 TOI
3 goals
1 assist
31 shots (12 on goal)
5v5 xGF%: 66.1%
5v5 CF%: 64%
Wings' fans should be excited about how he's come out of the gates so far

Red Wings RHD prospect, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, had an assist vs. HV71 today. This brings him to 3 goals and 1 assist in 6 games. 3/4 of his points have come on the PP and I believe the other point was at 4-on-4. You hope to see the 5v5 production come, but you can't help but be thrilled otherwise.

Of course Nate Danielson has not yet played for Brandon in the WHL this season as he's still playing preseason games with the Red Wings, including one tonight vs. Washington.

Productive evening for Red Wings prospects last night in the CHL.
RHD Andrew Gibson had 4 assists for the Soo in the OHL.
LHD Tnias Mathurin had an assist for North Bay in the OHL.
C Emmitt Finnie had a goal and 2 assists for Kamloops in the WHL.

Savannah Harmon will obviously be offensive driver on the backend for Ottawa at even strength and on PP1, but Bell can drive offense as well. The two players should form a really complimentary top pairing for Ottawa.

I'm really excited to watch PWHL Ottawa's defence group, especially Ashton Bell. She's got excellent size (5'9" 163 lbs), skates really well, not just for her size, and can move the puck. She's got offensive skill as well. She'll probably be the most relied on defenseman for Ottawa this year.

Certainly looks like it.

Fillier would transcend the roster and be a monumental boost for the organization.

I think PWHL Ottawa will be a team that competes night in and night out, but, for now, I don't see enough talent on the team to be championship team. Maybe a season of setting the groundwork while hoping for the #1 pick in the Sarah Fillier draft is in the plans for Ottawa.

I can't wait for the rest of the free agent signings to be announced and see rosters full out prior to training camp. Very excited for the start of the PWHL season and I plan on being a season ticket holder for PWHL Ottawa when tickets are available. Also, anxiously waiting for team logos to drop.

The run on D was evident.
4. I was surprised Jamie Lee Rattray wasn't picked by Ottawa. They must have been hoping she'd fall to them with pick 17 (5th pick in the 3rd round), but Boston scooped her up.

3. Defence ruled the first few rounds: It was clear with the abundance of F depth that team felt comfortable getting top 9 Fs well into the middle rounds of the draft, which meant scooping up the best D players was important. From Larocque, Shelton, Harmon, Ambrose, Bell, Bourbonnais, and Jaques...

Some more notes from today's PWHL Draft:
1. Continuity seemed to be valued - ex: Toronto selected Jocelyne Larocque to reunite her with Team Canada D partner, Renata Fast.
2. Aline MΓΌller's interview was so touching and emotional. She's an outstanding talent and finally gets to play in Boston.

Obviously Brianne Jenner is 32 and won't play forever, but she's an elite player right now, and the perfect person (and Emily Clark too!) to instill a culture of excellence in a young team. She should be Ottawa's captain.

I am only picking on Ottawa as they're my hometown team and the team I'll be supporting. They did seem to draft a ton of 1999 and 2000 born players. I wonder if they are focusing more on a long-term approach vs. a win-now strategy.

My knowledge of the women's college players is limited, so my opinion isn't super meaningful, but I wasn't wild on what Ottawa did at the draft today. The team will no doubt be competitive, but I thought they would have gotten more value out of their picks today.

The inaugural PWHL Draft was so much fun to watch! It was exciting and emotional watching these women walk up on stage after hearing their names called. What an incredible day for them.

That's a great deal for the #Canucks . Pius Suter is a very versatile defensive first forward with a good shot. He's been effective in various positions up and down the lineup. That's exactly the type of deal I hoped the Red Wings would give Suter, but was afraid he'd be asking for more AAV and term
