There have been a couple of reports of possible tornadoes from Cornwall. If you have any more information, please do let us know!
A tornado risk continues across southern England for the coming few hours. This is distinct from any impacts of Storm Eoywn tomorrow.
Image reads: Hi all - we've been issuing forecasts for severe convective weather, on a regular basis, for the last 20 years or so. Through the period, the long-term average is that around 50% of the tornadoes which have occurred in the UK have developing within a TORRO forecast. Early-on, TORRO was generally quite unique in issuing such forecasts, but that has changed over the years, with various outlets and individuals offering such forecasts. At the same time, the appetite from sections of the media to consume such forecasts, and then dramatically overplay them, has grown rapidly. It's at the stage where I feel that such overblown news stories could be damaging to TORRO. Also, it takes time and effort to produce such forecasts, and - whilst not onerous - it's not always possible to be able to give as much consideration to them as we'd like. Thus, TORRO will stop issuing such forecasts until further notice. Of course, TORRO will continue in its investigations and collation/documentation of tornado and other severe weather reports. Thus, please continue to report them to us! Paul.
