Heck its even called "landscape" and "portrait" i glossed over that

When i make art I want to do the former and emphasize the "space" the character is in, because for me that's really what carries a lot of the atmosphere and mood. It's also just fun to look at.

Older art online with its wider format trends towards characters in landscapes, emphasizing the world around them, while the vertical format of newer art trends towards emphasizing the character, and placing less emphasis on the background.
Which is kind of a shame isn't it.. but its not really bad.

I've noticed a lot of older online art tends to be in landscape orientation, more optimized for desktop devices and gallery views, and a lot of newer online art tends to be in portrait orientation for mobile devices and vertical streams. This really affects the subject matter a lot...

A rural dirt road split left, forward, and right. The left road goes to a wooden barn with a truck in front, the forward road goes into the distance, and the right road goes off screen. Wooden fenceposts line the forward roads, and there are various trees in the background. The sky is cloudy.

Both buildings have parking lots and signs. The landscape is similar to the first image, but with less trees. There's a water tower in the distance between the buildings, and a fence lining the boundary between them.
