Global food companies Ferrero, Mars and Nestlé, together with environmental groups, have urged the European Commission not to use IT issues as a pretext to reopen, delay or tweak the EU’s deforestation rules, according to a letter sent on Thursday to the EU’s environment chief, Jessika Roswall.

Spanish farmers are in Brussels pitching a proposal to the Commission to make origin labelling rules mandatory for rice.

Meanwhile, socialist MEPs are pushing for a legislative tweak that could pave the way for such changes. More below ⬇️
