His seem to be roughly 90% quotations or paraphrasing. And it just ends being boring and slightly unreadable.

I know that Thomas Edsall's style of commentary is to fill his posts with quotes from other people and various publications, but sometimes I wonder if it's because he can't write his own opinion. We used to debate this stuff in the journalism classes I took at NYU: how many quotes to use.

Facts:

It's so bizarre to think that everything we are now is based on lies. The stock market has always been based on hyperbole and falsehood, but now everything from national parks to traffic patterns to the safety of dogs and cats is resting on a foundation of lies.

The NY Times headline writers can be so clueless. "Trump's campaign to Tame Higher Education," conveys a system that was out of control until rational thinker Trump came along. The very first paragraph describes a justice department that is out of control, not universities.

I don't think "Do Nothing Congress" is appropriate. Or that the Republicans in Congress are passive, looking the other way, etc. I think they are absolutely part of it. They are playing their part. Johnson rules over an appendix, or perhaps a government gall bladder. But this is by design.
