Prasad and Makary are 100% linked to Trump, MAGA/MAHA and everything happening now. One reason that it was dangerous to minimize them is because it signaled that the entire MAHA/MAGA project wasn’t really anything to worry about.

That’s why I get mad at people who blew off warnings about them.

It’s pretty clear that Trump now realizes that all the anti-vaxx activism by RFK Jr & Drs Bhattacharya, Kulldorff, HΓΈeg, & Prasad is hugely unpopular with the public & is a liability in the mid-terms

Prasad is out

And RFK Jr is being muzzledβ€”he’ll just keep talking about β€œreal food” until Nov

Thank you. But I don’t think I deserve credit for this. I knew covid was going to be bad, but didn’t weigh in on this particular point.

How Vinay Prasad Came to Washington - And Why It Was Always Going to End This Way Anish Koka, MD & @anish_koka β€’ 22h

Multiple Prasad sycophants now claim they always knew it was going to end this way, that Saint Vinay was too pure for the DC swamp.

So why didn’t they try to stop him from going down this path?

I guess wanted to see him publicly fail.

Prasad also made collages of doctors wearing masks to shame them and spread doubt and mistrust.

That’s the professionalism and maturity he brought to the table.

January 2021 was the deadliest month of the pandemic. 3000 Americans died daily, 95,000 in total.

And Prasad was *mocking* people for avoiding COVID.

Shame on anyone who treated him as a good faith actor or serious thinker.

Let’s be honest about his record.

My first SBM article 5 years ago showed how Prasad was an unreliable ideologue. It aged very well.

He’s forfeited his right to be taken seriously ever again and anyone who does so should be ignored as well.

Graph of award probability of R35 and R01 from NIH factbook as a function of review rank percentile. As is apparent, 2025 is a significant departure, with lower award probabilities at all scores <40 and significant departures from norm, where even being in the top 10% is no longer a nearly certain indicator of success.

The data is in: the NIH goalposts have shifted.

What were once almost certain fundable scores have become coin flips and what used to be likely grants have become aspirational, leading to fewer awards.

Another manifestation of how HHS policies have led to fewer awards and less science.

He did this all by himself.

Summary of recent HHS departures:

-Unqualified weirdo Jim O’Neill out as CDC Director

-β€œMeasles outbreaks are the cost of doing business” Ralph Abraham out as his Dumbass Deputy

-Venomous podcaster Vinay Prasad out at FDA.

Yet human cassowary and denim enthusiast RFK Jr. remains.

As a reminder, Prasad endorsed Trump and Kennedy. His responsibility for that doesn’t end when he leaves the FDA. He’s still on the hook.
