At a Large News Org where I once worked in the early 2000s we made audio slide shows, which used our correspondents’ voices, sometimes field audio like NPR, and photographs. It was maybe primitive relative to broadcast news but it hit the bandwidth sweet spot. Also photos are not just still video.
