Pink magnolia blossoms frame Magdalen Tower against a bright blue sky, with warm spring sunlight illuminating the stone facade and neatly trimmed gardens below.
A magnolia tree in full bloom stands beside stone steps and traditional lanterns at Balliol College, its pink flowers contrasting with the historic golden buildings.
Magnolia branches covered in pink blossoms stretch across the foreground, partially framing the main tower and gardens of Mansfield College under a partly cloudy sky.
Sunlit magnolia branches hang over the arched entrance at New College, casting soft shadows on the textured stone walls and windows beneath.

Magnolia season has arrived in Oxford 🌸

What is metformin?

Metformin is a medicine used by tens of millions of people worldwide, mainly for type 2 diabetes.

Lab results suggest metformin could also make cancer less likely to occur in people with Li Fraumeni syndrome, although currently this is only a theory. The MILI clinical trial has been set up to test this.

Metformin is a drug used mainly to treat diabetes.
Research suggests it may reduce the risk of cancer developing in people with Li Fraumeni syndrome.

Control groups make medicine safer and smarter.

By using control groups, scientists aren’t just guessing—they’re making informed decisions based on real evidence.
