Loved this, esp the Terrance Dicks Target novelisation discussion. I think Peter is absolutely right when he says that there is a (first) golden age for the Targets. For me, it runs all the way up to Jan ‘79 with the 128-page Hand of Fear Dicks book, the 46th in the range. The 47th? Invisible Enemy!

I am loving the pod, Luke, and Michael is alway a pleasure to listen to! As a total Big Finish noob, though, I’m often lost when following the discussion. Is it possible to have a quick three-act précis with main cast roll call for the BF audios, please?
Would it be blasphemous if I were to argue - genuinely - that the Rani is just the Master in Missy form and that “Mark of the Rani”was the first ever multi-Master story? Her Omega scheme seems no better or worse than any of the Ainley Master’s hare-brained plots.

What a lovely idea! That early Avengers ‘grit’ provided by the Steed and Keel episodes does seem to wear away over time, though I’m not sure it isn’t a good thing. Also, Steed and a female co-lead is such a potent and recognisable pairing it’d be hard to not present it that way, if rebooted.
