One thing tracking the invasion of Chicago has done (as did the LA invasion) is introduce me to great local journalism outlets, including @blockclubchi.bsky.social.

I think it's one reason Stephen Miller hasn't been more successful sowing fascist spectacle.

How would the Powell Memo have shaped this level of inflation. (I'm aware of its effects on media.)

For Expertise to Matter, Nonpartisan Institutions Need New Communications Strategies To avoid irrelevance when they are needed most, experts and nonpartisan analysts must rethink not just their channels of communication but also their theory of influence.

I see this old dog needs new tricks:
"...even politicians and policymakers who favor major newspapers or television channels for their own information are influenced by, and must reason with, constituencies who inhabit a fundamentally different media ecosystem."

"Why some federal workers aren't scared by the threat of shutdown layoffs"
Perhaps they wrote the headline that way to get people who wouldn't otherwise read it to take a look. It worked with me.

Headlines often do not match stories. That's a good media lesson to learn.

Model: Keep talking, keep lying, keep free media in a box. Confuse the masses then set them against each other.
I hope Abraham Lincoln's message that you can't fool all the people all the time comes to fruit - stat.

Turns out protest alone was never what changed things, it was protest *plus media coverage of protests*, which prompted officials to respond to protests, which increased public awareness of protests, etc.

If the protest happens & corporate media simply ignores it ... it's inert.

The Democrats hid their heads in the sand and are still hiding. They cannot see that factual media is critically important.

PS Grok tells me "According to 2025 data from CMS and KFF, about 45 million Americans have coverage through the ACA (Marketplace plans or Medicaid expansion). With a US population of around 343 million, that's approximately 13%."

I get Marketplace. What's Medicaid expansion? 3/

My indie Real Estate husband & I (indie journo) lived through pre Affordable Care Act. Health insurance options were limited, crazy expensive, & with any pre-existing condition, unattainable.
ACA may have morphed into other areas. But let's agree US entrepreneurs deserve to buy health insurance. 2/
