In America, you're also legally allowed to work with an accredited and certified trainer with a dog you've selected that meets the ADA standards!

I have a service dog. There's a lot of time I'm unable to exercise my dog. I mostly live alone. Dog walkers/sitters ARE SO VERY HELPFUL. I don't see anything wrong.

Its the people that have pets & NEGLECT them that are the issue.

When talking abt accessibility architecture I dont see talked about a lot is the inclusion of service animals. Both for those with physical and psychological dog needs. Areas for dogs to relieve themselves, enough space for wheelchair individuals And their dogs, buttons big enough and low enough

As a second note; please don't be afraid to go through an ethical breeder that has had success in their puppies becoming working dogs. All shelter dogs do deserve a home, but few shelter dogs will be able to make it through the vigorous process to become a Service Dog.

Hello! I hope you don't mind my asking, but how much research have you done into what tasks you need your potential prospect to do? Different breeds learn slower or faster, just as some breeds are easier or more difficult to train! Always put your needs before a particular breed!

It may be hard, but please never pet a Service Dog without asking, as it can put the handlers life at risk.

Sharing this story with permission - One of our team members was attacked multiple times by a rat terrier; it tore open his foot, nearly took a large chunk out of his arm, as well as caused him nerve damage in his hands. That same dog had no problem with turning on its owners as well as a child.
