Very much this. Westminster relying on muscle memory of two-party politics is in no fit shape for politics as it is now playing out in the country.

If you have just been humbled in a by-election it might not be the best idea to slag off the choices of the voters who deserted you in their droves.

A fresh roadmap setting out how Scotland can go further in land reform has been published by the Scottish Land Commission
Here's all you need to know π
It's rather depressing that, in a three-way by-election with potentially seismic consequences - in which voters had a genuine range of options - less than half the electorate showed up.
By-election turnout is never great, but I don't think we should just shrug over this.
I totally agree but also struggle to imagine this happening. Appalling policies like ending refugee family reunion and the βearnedβ settlement proposals should never have been dreamt up. But I canβt see Labour backing down now even though electoral oblivion beckons.

This is excellent from @iandunt.bsky.social on the government's proposals on settlement: unsupported by evidence, counterproductive on integration, cohesion and economic growth.
As Ian says not too late for government to think again.
