I ❤️ this #novel. An easy read. #Warmhearted when we desperately need warmheartedness. I wept at the end (this never happens), worried that the characters I loved were going to be okay. "This novel is a reminder that goodness, & #books, can still win in this world."

A poem titled Bach. Through-composed. BACH He lies in dingy sheets and touches her, while trucks below shift gears and pigeons shuffle on the roof, the building lit with midnight news, her piano on the fourteenth floor, and all her scores stacked high. From her open window, night snow drifts on piano wires. He sits on the black bench, ghost that he is, hands on hers as she plays. A neighbor shoulders through the stacks to demand she omit the parts with all those notes. One by one, windows blink and shutter. It’s nothing, he says. Nothing. Play on.
