Why is There so Much Housing Inequality in London, and What can be Done? London's housing crisis is a key driver of poverty in the capital.

Households in poverty in London spend an average of 54% of their income on housing; in the rest of England, the average is 32%.

What might policymakers do to try and address housing inequality in London?

Surely the task is to tackle inequality, low productivity and deprivation wherever they occur: north or south? London is a city of extremes: great wealth alongside extreme deprivation (come and visit Church Street for eg) and exceptional challenges. Making London worse off is in no one’s interests.
