Same pattern with color

I test the vector seed pattern into different rotational & reflection symmetries (aka kaleidoscopes). This is a 6-fold symmetry (reflection & 60° rotation). I try different positions, rotations & scales to see what interesting forms emerge.

The results are usually far more interesting than the simple geometry.

I have scripts to automate generating myriad variations. Animations are a by product of these explorations.

I create a vector drawing, riding the geometry, and start to test colors. I always start with high contrast black & white.

A peak into my creative process. It starts with doodles & sketches - on paper or iPad - of a simple pattern that I find interesting. My favorite patterns have identical positive and negative space.
