If the status quo is mad, then we must be doing something right.

@axios.com reports that "seasoned" Democrats are "pissed off" about having to face real primary challenges this year -- specifically calling out our race.

Op-ed: San Jose can protect immigrants by ending Flock surveillance system - San José Spotlight As ICE and other federal agencies continue their assault on civil liberties, local leaders are stepping up to protect their communities. This includes pushing back against automated license plate read...

ALPRs are marketed to promote public safety, but many are waking up to the reality: they have high error rates and low efficacy for solving crimes — and worse, they can be weaponized against anyone the government chooses to target. sanjosespotlight.com/op-ed-san-jo...

Why Transgender People Are Not Feeling Gavin Newsom We have seen this song and dance before.

There seems to be a lot of discussion about Gavin Newsom today.

I wanted to re-share this piece that I wrote, because I have a lot of center-to-left Dems that follow me that want to understand.

There are very good reasons transgender people do not like Gavin Newsom.

Greater Sacramento Regional Rail Concept. Map design by Milli Bloom.

Map shows a priority buildout from UC Davis medical center to Roseville, with stops at Davis, Mace, West Sacramento, Washington, Sac Valley, 12th st., Elvas, Exposition, Marconi/Arvade, West/McClellan, Elkhorn
A secondary buildout connects Elk Grove to the SMF airport, with Elk Grove-Roseville service on the same infrastructure. Further buildouts include extensions to Woodland, Suisun/Fairfield, and extending the SMF line to North Valley Rail to Chico

What if Sacramento had a fast, frequent alternative to congested highways? One that served destinations like UC Davis, Sac State, SMF, and rapidly growing suburbs,
using existing infrastructure at low cost? We're working on a plan, and we need your help.

Lawsuit that halted ICE courthouse arrests in Northern California could go national Civil rights groups seek nationwide stop to immigration courthouse arrests and prolonged detentions in short-term holding cells.

For months, immigrants faced an impossible choice: show up at court and risk detention or skip it and receive a deportation order.
With our partners, we stopped ICE arrests at immigration courthouses in Northern and Central California. Now we’re pushing to end this cruel policy nationwide.

Minneapolis Community Defense Is “Riding on the Learning Edge of a Whirlwind” “We are becoming the people that we always knew that we needed to be,” says Minneapolis organizer Andrew Fahlstrom.

I talked with three Minneapolis organizers, including Andrew Fahlstrom and Susan Raffo, about community defense in Minneapolis, the social fabric of collective care under federal occupation, and how people around the country should be gearing up for the long struggle ahead. Audio + transcript:

Sacramento deserves a regional rail system. What would it take to build it?

Help Shape the Future of the Historic McClaskey School

The Sacramento City Unified School District (SUSD) is reviewing the future of McClaskey Adult Center at 5241 J Street in East Sacramento.

The district has declared the property “surplus” and has formed an advisory committee to study possible next steps - from whether the site remains in community use or is sold or redeveloped. The school board does NOT need to accept their recommendations.

Join East Sacramento Neighbors for Smart growth and make your voice heard.

For more than a century, this historic school site has been part of what makes East Sacramento special - a reminder of the neighborhood’s small town character within a growing city. Protecting places like this helps preserve the charm sense of continuity that define East Sac.

If you care about the history, beauty, and future of our community, please get involved.

Neighborhood Meeting Wednesday January 28 at 6:30 pm. Alhambra Room Clunie Clubhouse.

601 Alhambra Blvd.

Did you know? Proceeds from the sale of surplus property cannot be used for general operations - such as utilities, teacher salaries or supplies - so a sale will not resolve SCUSD’s serious financial challenges.

A community landmark for more than a century | Built in 1921 | 4.5 Acres | 20+ Mature Trees

East Sacramento NIMBYs are meeting Wednesday, January 28 at 6:30 pm at the Clunie Clubhouse (601 Alhambra Blvd) to discuss SCUSD’s sale of the old McClaskey School on 5241 J Street.

Maybe some YIMBYs should attend this meeting too.

You are not listed as a cosponsor on H.Res.996 - Impeaching Kristi Lynn Arnold Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

After the murder of Alex Pretti yesterday, I hope this is merely an oversight.
