Positive photo day 2187: You can always hear a Carolina Wren before you finally find it. I found this one in Van Cortlandt Park this morning. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography @vcpalliance.bsky.social
Positive photo day 2186: False spring is over and a cold rain has settled over NYC. So here is a photo of a male Mallard and his reflection in Van Cortlandt Park from earlier this week. #birds 🪶 #ducks🦆 of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography @vcpalliance.bsky.social
Positive photo day 2185: Hello there. I'm a White-throated Sparrow waiting patiently (or not) to fly to a nearby tree stump where someone left some food. And then this crazy photographer came up and insisted on taking my photo. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography @vcpalliance.bsky.social
Positive photo day 2184: I made it back to Van Cortlandt Park this morning -- the first time since 19 November 2025! Despite the warmth over the last couple of days, there are still Mallards walking on ice in the pond. #birds of the #Bronx #NYC #ducks #wildlifephotography @vcpalliance.bsky.social
Positive photo day 2183: I came across a calm Northern Mockingbird... before the moment ended and it flew off. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography
Positive photo day 2182: Happy #InternationalWomen'sDay! To celebrate, here are photos of four female birds: Hooded Merganser, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Cardinal and Wood Duck. #birds of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography @vcpalliance.bsky.social
See my latest pice about the @cms.int and its upcoming meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
Nope.
Positive photo day 2181: "Though she be but little, she is fierce." AKA Angry House Sparrow on a misty, foggy morning. (And for a little fun on a Saturday, name the #Shakespeare play the quote is from.) #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography
Positive photo day 2180: I desperately need to extend my walking mileage so I can see more of a variety of #wildlife. But this Bluejay did stop to say happy Friday. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography
Positive photo day 2179: On this rainy day, I wanted to see a Tufted Titmouse. So I found an older photo of one that I liked. I hope you like it too. #birds of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography @vcpalliance.bsky.social
Positive photo day 2178: "When you feel down and out, Sing a song (it'll make your day)..." I'm sure that Earth, Wind and Fire didn't have a Song Sparrow in mind, but they do sing a song and make everyone smile. #birds of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography #birdsongs
Positive photo day 2177: It was a rather boring walk this morning since I can't make it all the way to Van Cortlandt Park yet. My only photo was of a #squirrel. But I guess boring is good sometimes, especially given world news. No #birds today. #wildlifephotography #Bronx #NYC
Positive photo day 2176: While American Robins are here year-round, the #snow has started to melt and maybe this one is a harbinger of #spring. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography
Thirty-four years ago today, what is now @enb.iisd.org was born. I'm proud to be one of the three founders and that 34 years later we are still in business, still searching for funding, and still providing transparency for multilateral environmental negotiations. Happy Birthday ENB!
Where did environmental negotiations deliver last year?

Positive photo day 2175: I stopped by the local diner in New Providence to see lots of different species dining together with no concern for their differences. Food can bring everyone together, including a Tufted Titmouse, a Goldfinch and House Sparrows. #birds of #NewJersey #birdphotography
Positive photo day 2174: It was a foggy morning in New Jersey today (or maybe the fog of war...). I walked to Oakwood Park and saw a Hooded Merganser couple in the Passaic River. #birds in the #fog #NewJersey #birdphotography #naturephotography
Positive photo day 2173: Better late than never -- a White-throated Sparrow braving the #snow ❄️. We've had snow on the ground consistently since 25 January -- maybe it will start melting in time for March. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography
Positive photo day 2172: It's always nice to see a bright red cardinal on a snowy day. #birds 🪶in the #snow ❄️ #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography #naturephotography
Positive photo day 2171: A Bluejay (or maybe the photographer) contemplates the clouds and #snow ❄️. #birds 🪶of the #Bronx #NYC #birdphotography #naturephotography
Fish was on the menu today for the Bald Eagles and eaglet at Duke Farms. The second egg hadn't hatched as of 6:07 pm, but the 3-day old eaglet is eating a lot. #birds 🪶of #NewJersey #eaglecam #procrastination
Positive photo day 2170: I gingerly walked in the neighborhood this morning because I wanted one more day before all of the snow turned ugly and annoying. And I saw a Northern Mockingbird! #birds 🪶and #snow ❄️in the #Bronx #NYC #naturephotography
The Duke Farms newborn eaglet survived the #blizzard and seems to be doing fine. The other eaglet may be hatched by Tuesday. Sometime during the day one of the Bald Eagles caught what looks like a Common Merganser to eat. #birds 🪶of #NewJersey #EagleCam #naturephotography #wildlifephotography
Positive photo day 2169: After teaching four classes online today, I ventured out into the #snow after the #blizzard ended. I just walked around my neighborhood in the #Bronx #NYC. #naturephotography
The first 2026 Duke Farms eaglet hatched around 7:00 am EST this morning, just before a #blizzard in #NewJersey. Of the three eggs laid last month, one didn't make it. 😢One hatched on 22 Feb., and one is yet to come. Hopefully this one will survive the storm. #birds 🪶 #eagle 🦅
Positive photo day 2168: On Nov. 19, 2025 I fractured the base of my fifth metatarsal on my right foot. After 11 weeks in a medical boot & 2.5 weeks of walking without, I tried a 2-mile walk today before the #blizzard. A House Sparrow, welcomed me back. #birds 🪶of the #bronx #nyc #birdphotography
Positive photo day 2167: I'm finishing up Butterfly Week with a Painted Lady Butterfly I saw at the Grand Canyon in June 2021. I'm cautiously optimistic that I will be able to return to regularly scheduled programming next week... No #birds 🪶just #butterflies 🦋 #naturephotography
Positive photo day 2166: Of course I had to celebrate our anniversary with a butterfly for Butterfly Week. Today's entry is a Spicebush Swallowtail I saw in Van Cortlandt Park in August 2020. No #birds 🪶 this week. Only #butterflies 🦋 #naturephotography #Bronx #NYC @vcpalliance.bsky.social
Positive photo day 2165: Butterfly Week continues with an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail that I saw in the Heather Garden at Fort Tryon Park (my favorite butterfly spot) in July 2022. No #birds 🪶this week. Only #butterflies 🦋#naturephotography #NYC
