Not mentioned in this article is these vacant apartments are mostly owned by slumlords who take advantage of international students who have to take a place sight unseen. These landlords are some of the only people getting fucked by Trump's policies who actually deserve it

I feel this is not as safe for them as they think.

No, a Police. You're thinking of Mick Jones.

(Jokes aside. This framing seems speculative and silly? The NFL always does a whole bunch of shit in the days before the Superbowl.)

I keep learning about guys whoβ€”had any one of them been lovable childrenβ€”wouldn't have done the supremely evil shit that was the last bit of treachery needed to tip us into fascism.

A veal parm that doesn't make you feel like you're eating ortolan? I'm listening. I do like chicken fried steak.

I'm a firm believer in a thin layer of a mayo based sauce on the majority of sliced/chopped meat sandwiches. Even pastrami. The lipid moisture barrier delays bread sog.

Aside: D'Angelo sold packets of Mr. Spice garlic steak sauce in the 90s for the Number 9 and I still special order that shit.

Chicago Sandwich Canon: The South Side’s Jim Shoe | Sandwich Tribunal A good Jim Shoe is a mess, combining corned beef, roast beef, gyro meat, onions, mustard, gyro sauce, cheese, lettuce and tomato in a hoagie roll. It is a lot.

Salami's the bay leaf of long sandwiches, really.

Way too many dough conditioners used here. Maybe Bostonians had bad teeth and begged for a bread that could dissolve without chewing it?

First I'm learning of the Gym Shoe, and I just had to take a Prilosec reading about it.

My less popular take is the salami on a traditional bomb is undetectable to the palate and therefore extraneous (especially if it has hots, which it should).

If I had my life to do again, I would get a PhD studying alcohol taxation around the world and how quirks and loopholes in tax policy dictate the existence of weird things like "Canadian wine," which isn't made from grapes and is used as an artificially less-expensive ingredient in rotgut products.

I have been complaining for 20 years that this half of the state doesn't use grinder rolls, which are unmatched in the long sandwich roll category, as far as I'm concerned.

Louisiana, New Mexico, Vermont, Illinois, and DC have all done this. Again, Massholes, we have to publicly embarrass @massgovernor.bsky.social into action.

Call her office right now. (617) 725-4005.

Find your legislators here and call them, too.

This is about food for a million people!

Lead with the pork. It gets you a free pass. Having an opinion on (or even knowing it's a thing to have an opinion on) John's vs. DiNic's is the secret to unlocking that entire town to an outsider.

I haven't paid any attention to the 'ville elections beyond @unlikelywords.bsky.social videos (gl, Jessie!). How (dis)similar are the mayoral candidates to each other?

One of my hot takes is the Boston area steak and cheese / steak bomb is an order of magnitude better than Philly cheesesteaks. Telling this to Philly people upsets them until I add that a Philly roast pork & raab is better than both, at which point they admit Boston has the superior steak sub.

I'm glad to see that. Helps provide pressure on my state. Of course I'm horrified about the lack of disaster relief.

They're worried about "picking winners and losers." We're talking about food for a million residents of our state! These effects are going to be immediate on our most vulnerable neighbors.

i am both awed and infuriated that it is restaurants, businesses that barely have two nickels to rub together, who are stepping in to provide for people who are about to lose their food benefits

i am not surprised though, bc working class people always stand up for each other.

MA residents:

If SNAP goes away, your EBT card still lets you use HIP to get fruits/vegetables: mass.gov/info-details...

You can still get Transitional/Emergency Economic Assistance: mass.gov/economic-ass...

This hotline gives access to other meal/pantry programs: projectbread.org/foodsource-h...

Co-Sign.

Feeding our hungry neighbors is our collective responsibility, NOT the work of charity.

Religious groups are not equipped nor capable of doing this at the scale of SNAP. And we should not be asking us to, too. Call the Gov.
