This is exactly what happened with me and my not online wife when she texted me to ask why I was laughing at something and I told her
"No, there's no way they had a 3D ultrasound fetus saying 'vote for shamwow.' I'm NOT believing this one."
Me: sends link
Her: "wtf? How was it worse?"
Go back and read the thread because you misread what was meant by that statement, as should immediately be made clear clear by the next post in the thread

04.03.2026 15:36 β π 12 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Trying to pay attention to everything right now is like being a 24/7 air traffic controller in an understaffed tower, it's ok. But yeah, Maura is not where she needs to be on this. Completely out of step with the electorate but no primary challenger
04.03.2026 22:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I usually don't even like prune, but well-made lekvar (prune butter) is just kind of perfect. I don't know if anyone is making them outside of bland grocery store versions in WMass today (and the "season"' is ending, but they're year-round in some bakeries). Apricot's the only other flavor I Iike!
04.03.2026 22:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is delightful. I still advise not going to any bar in the Boston area that serves green beer on St. Patrick's Day, but just because that's how to spot a shit show, not because I'm angered by the green beer (it took me years and world travel to learn to not be so precious about beer).

04.03.2026 21:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I haven't, did you like it? I kind of try to keep my brown spirit purchasing fairly simple, because I love the stuff too much and know I would risk ruining both wallet and liver if I tried to keep it around. We drink most of our beer at home (barring breweries) and most of our cocktails at bars

A third of the dogs in my neighborhood when I moved here were named Pedro. One was named Trot Nixon. Actual Trot Nixon also lived in my neighborhood and I used to have a photo with me and both Trots Nixon.
Bunch of white-muzzled Remys & Rem-Dawgs still around, too ππ.
#25 is definitely a bureaucratic misspelling. Nobody in the City of David Ortiz has a dog named "Poppy."

04.03.2026 20:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Meant to share this while it was still Purim; a few years ago, I wrote a jokey, but also sincere article about why prune hamantaschen are the best, andβfor a whileβGoogle AI plagiarized the funny parts as facts and ignored the sincere parts that actually talked about the cultural history of lekvar.
04.03.2026 20:08 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0A Google AI summary of the search "why prune hamantaschen is the best" with a bunch of answers from my jokey piece about it plagiarized as fact. Including there are "three acceptable Ashkenazi Purim cookie flavors," they're "safe for orthodontics," and "they're good for the gut. The combination of excess dairy and booze can pose a problem to stereotypically sensitive gastrointestinal systems that prunes can help solve."
Lekvar so much I wrote about it
www.myjewishlearning.com/the-nosher/w...
And Google AI thought it was authoritative for a while:
Oh and do read @beers.bsky.social piece. Really interesting, great writing.

I miss old beer/spirits/cocktail Twitter where I could say something like "all whiskey is beer turned into a whiskey," walk away, and come back to World War III, but only metaphorically.
(My favorite thing we made in brewing school was an eau de vie using a hefeweizen we ran out of time to drink.)
Thanks! My wife and I would likely be very interested (we're in Boston) but understand if they're looking to keep it a group of folks more likely to see each other often afterwards
04.03.2026 18:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There are a lot of them! The major cities voted for Harris in the Presidential election. People outside Texas (even in the US) often don't know that there are more Democrat voters in Texas than any other state except for California, which itself has the 2nd highest # of Republicans (Texas is 1st).
