Both are fantasies that aren't possible, of course. Good stories end, and the stories that don't end eventually stop becoming good stories, just as no video game can infatuate you forever - at some point the experience has to end!
There is, I think, a parallel between this fantasy, and the fan fantasy of the eternal TV/novel series that you never have to say goodbye to, where you can consume your favourite characters, forever. The story almost stops mattering, you just want to sustain that fan feeling unto eternity.
In short, it is a game where you can play forever, perpetually entranced, always with something new and interesting to engage with.
It's the game you can fall in love with, and it never had to end. The magic and glory of that First Playthrough, but forever.

There's no reason for an indie shop to join up - they don't need more than a local reach, so you don't need centralised marketing, and the businesses that supply these shops have in effect already centralised the supply chain. What could a chain offer an Indie store to be worth the profit cut?

The Pitt got greenlit for a season 3, out next February, and the announcement has very funny comment from HBO chairman Casey Bloys that’s like “yeah, turns out if you just make a TV show like how we used to make TV shows you can have a 15+ episode season every year 🤷♂️”
And you've probably not heard anything about it because it's been funded, made and distributed by YouTuber Markiplier, and the fact that it even *has* a inter/national release is thanks to his fans emailing cinemas asking for the movie!
I have indeed seen it! It's not a bad adaptation of the game, and I found it quite intense (especially at the end). It's aesthetic is very mid-budget, but honestly that's pretty impressive considering it's quite low-budget!

Hot take: Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is the most Australian-coded anime ever. It's stillness, effortless character focus and use of wilderness is so similar to Aussie films and TV that I can't *not* notice it, even as it so clearly *is* a very Japanese piece of fiction.
