A gold ring with a flat pyramidical top in which is inlaid a violet sapphire.
Another gem - literally speaking this time - from today's trip to SorΓΈ. The ring found in the grave of Archbishop Absalon of Lund (r.1177-92). The stone is a Sri Lanka sapphire, testifying to the wide reach of Afro-Eurasian trade networks in the Middle Ages.
