One of our paper from 2016 on the effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on crops was cited in the DOE report commissioned by the Trump administration, giving misleading conclusions that rising CO2 emissions are beneficial to agriculture.

Time series from 1880 to 2023 showing steadily rising global temperatures and an estimate record for 2024.
With the October data in GISTEMP, it is almost certain that 2024 will be a new annual temperature record.
Best estimate is for 1.47Β°C above pre-industrial, but it could be above 1.5Β°C depending on the this month and next (of course).
Great you have you back Ed! And together with you.

Timeseries of GISTEMP annual temperatures with uncertainties from 1880 to 2023 and including an estimate for 2024 using YTD temperatures. The 2024 estimate is clearly above and distinct from all previous years and straddles the '1.5ΒΊC above the late 19th C' line.
With the (belated) September data now in, the updated prediction is that 2024 is almost certain to be a new annual surface temperature record, and possibly by more than 0.1ΒΊC. 50% change of exceeding 1.5ΒΊC above the late 19th C.
