Even more ironic is that the whole movie is framed as a story told by the one eyed spartan Leonidas sent home, which allows for (or excuses) portraying the Persians as inhuman brutes. But even with that framing he portrays Xerxes as a living god smoke show.

In fact, I think both HotD and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms step up their portrayals of the GoT world. House has more book accurate castles, Harrenhal actually looks like what the books describe! And I think Knight of the Seven Kingdoms does better with costumes and armor, more color and character
Season two was a little slow but wasn’t enough to turn me against the show. Still loved it, and I think it’ll work better when season three is out and you don’t need to wait years for the story to continue. It’s such a beautiful show too, noticeably better portrayal of Westeros than GoT
