academia very badly needs people who are neither dogmatically anti-AI nor credulous boosters. the potential is real and the problems are very real. but many critics refuse to even engage with the question of the how and when the things work in the first place.

Hah interesting: electric cars are significantly cheaper in Denmark and Sweden (for once), and it's likely mostly due to a much larger market share and more competitive market, although Sweden has a bigger market overall.

Just read a template letter that ended, "thank you for your attention in this matter", and almost vomited. There's a phrase that needs to be retired...
