The age of the universe is measured using the variable form of Hubble’s Law, and against the apparent age of the oldest bodies. The Milky Way is thought to be 13.6 b yrs old, the universe 13.7 b (this is up for major debate thanks to WEBB, because claims are never accepted without proof in science)
Reminder to all those who join: read the jam page in full! Chances are, if you have a question, it has been answered <3
otherwise, the community will be more than happy to answer!
SO excited to participate in GDKO starting tomorrow!!!
GDKO is a tournament-style #gamejam for #solodev s ONLY, keeping competition fair for all #indiedev s that participate!

Hope everyone’s having a wonderful holiday!
I’ll be back making games and videos with a vengeance come January <3
the invisible progress problem is so real; I try to write down things learned in my record of progress in addition what actually got done to keep my morale up!
idk about you but my brain does not like prototyping at all.
🎮
Maybe it's the perfectionist in me, but I'd almost rather make big several-month-long mistakes than throw together a version of my game that I know will get tossed out. Almost.
Check out this super cute #overcooked like #roguelite adventure by this lovely #indiedev studio!
There’s an open demo with co-op on their Steam page! Unendingly charming with all the chaos and hilarity you’d expect.
Especially when the answer is neither; clearly it’s pronounced “godot”
The PNG isn’t transparenting but y’all get the point
Fun fact for those who don’t know: my bird avatar is based on a Steller’s Jay! 🦜Because I love birds and astronomy and people call me Jay, but also because they’re beautiful birds!
Looks like tons of fun! Wishlisting as soon as I can get to my computer!
Oh I know I’m biting off a several-year project with this one; it’s one of passion, though. And the NPC logic is central, a core mechanic for what I want to do, not fluff; I wanted to make a game that focuses on it!
You know it'll be a good game when it takes you days to organize everything you think it'll need. Then you remember gamedev is hard and there are tons of invisible pieces to most games and you feel a bit better.
If you like complex NPCs👾, maybe you'll want to follow my progress?

I definitely spend more time than I need to planning a game 🎮
But at least my coding structure will benefit in the long-term!

REALLY IMPORTANT UPDATE PLEASE SHARE
#ASafeChoice physicians WILL prescribe medication abortion via telehealth FOR WOMEN WHO ANTICIPATE NEEDING THIS MEDICATION.
REPEAT: You do NOT need to be currently pregnant to get this prescription.
In an era of potentially draconian abortion bans, take note!
Then try feeding a picture of real basil pizza into the generator next time for better results! Here’s an example of basil on pizza :D
What in Hell would that green fuzz be even if this was real? Mold?
Cool, thanks! I was talking per NPC. I’m trying to build an environment with wildlife that behaves realistically, so I’ve been creating a state for each behavior you might expect, say, a wolf to exhibit and attaching them all to a state machine for a wolf. Nothing has more than 10 (yet) though
How many states are too many for an NPC state machine? 🤔🎮

Looking forward to the GDKO solo dev game jam!
I hope everyone has fun💖
So we could be in awe of the steep accomplishments of large teams of dedicated, well-funded artists and still give our love and adoration to the creative works of passion that a handful or even one dedicated person poured their souls into.
I feel like with the resources studios have they really are capable of making and occasionally successfully make truly amazing things. I’d love it, though, if there was maybe a bracket for smaller or low-budget games,
Thanksgiving leftovers were gone too soon this year— too delicious to last. ‘Hope everyone had a good one! 🦃
Crazy how easy it is on Bluesky to go all day without having to read through some bigoted bullshit, especially with the plethora of customized feeds!
Looks great! Almost seems radioactive with that level of contrast and reflections
