We got upgraded on the flight home and have been moved to row 1. 4yo was ecstatic about this because, and I quote: "I can get to the potty more quickly!!!" #childpriorities

Last summer, I was in Interspar in Villach with 4yo. She started piling up the shopping cart with books. I told her "but you don't speak German..." She looks at me "but you do!" #realtimetranslation

At 5% basically one should fund by lottery. Reviewers are no longer capable of distinguishing/ranking that fine grained. FWIW many EU grants are in low single digit success rates and it goes exactly as you would expect.

In 1965, Margaret Dayhoff published the Atlas of Protein Sequence and Structure, which collated the 65 proteins whose amino acid sequences were then known.

Inspired by that Atlas, today we are releasing the Dayhoff Atlas of protein sequence data and protein language models.

To immediately start off, our latest preprint, "Deciphering the evolutionary origin of the stereoselectivity of short-chain dehydrogenases in the oxidation of the monoterpenol 1-borneol," is now available on bioRxiv (doi.org/10.1101/2025...)!

Cynical bullshit. 4 pizzas sent to your door cheap in the cold and rain BECAUSE itโ€™s immigrants doing that back-breaking, low paid, often exploitative labour. And, many who complain about โ€œimmigrantsโ€ are more than happy to do just that, knowing full well why itโ€™s cheap.

Every machine in a Hospital that diagnoses your body without cutting you open is based on a principle of Physics, discovered by a Physicist who had no interest in Medicine.

If you think the world doesnโ€™t need Basic Science, or that somehow Science has failed you, think again.
