If it’s holding water then the cement is intact and you need to scrape out some of the gunk that’s a lot easier. If it’s a flexi liner then you’d risk putting a hole in it. Degunking is best done when it’s dried out a bit, otherwise you’d risk stirring it all up again.
Unless there’s a sloping shallow end, can you get a plank or some branches in there? Acts as a ramp for anything that falls in. Water looks ok, if it smells manky or you get blanket weed then small nets of barley straw can help with that. Varying depths can help and open up more planting choices.
Do you know if it’s lined and if so, with either flexi rubber or a hard preformed liner? And there’s a sentence I never thought I’d type! 🤣
