What matters most is that you understand the freedom you’ll find and the deeper love you’ll experience when you lay all your secrets down and open yourself to the love that will come your way as a result.

Someone convinced that if people knew the truth, love would disappear. Someone, like me, who needs to know they deserve to be known and loved as their full, honest, transparent self.

So…
Why share all this right now without all the details attached?
Because I’m convinced that someone out there needs to know this now, someone reading this who is still carrying a secret.

I will be writing more about this as I finish up the writing assignment I have been working on these last couple of weeks and over the coming days I plan to share a series of blog posts that go deeper into this and tell more about my journey over the past year.

I learned that the love of those around me did not fade. It grew deeper.
True love exists my friends. And I am not talking about the romanticized version of it. I am talking about the kind that stays, listens, sees all of you, and chooses you anyway.

But earlier this year, I finally laid those secrets down and began letting people see behind the walls I had built so carefully.
When I did, I learned something life changing.

Secrets, especially mine, were the topic of conversation with my therapist this past Monday.
For years, I lived behind a façade, constantly questioning whether anyone could truly love me if they knew the whole story.

Secrets
When we hold them, especially the big ones, we tend to hold people at a distance. We start believing that if anyone really knew our mistakes, our past, and/or our hidden pain they would turn away in disgust, discomfort, and/or dismay.

She loves me better than I love myself, makes my heart happy, and quite literally saved my life this year. 🛟

Oh, and she’s crazy cute too. 😉

Everyone agrees that to know her is to love her, and I just happen to be the lucky one who gets to call her mine. ❤️

Normally, I’d save a post like this for her birthday or our anniversary, but this one just couldn’t wait that long. 🗓️

I think when you hear the story of what God has done in my life, you’ll understand just how perfectly every line fits. ✔️

In that moment, I was overwhelmed by what God has done, and is doing, in my life, and there truly was nothing left to do but sing along and praise Him for His goodness and grace. 🙌🏼

Somehow, it perfectly captured what these last few months have felt like.

As I replayed the song over and over, I suddenly found myself in a one-on-one worship service with the Lord—right there in my Kia Sorento (with Bobblehead Jesus staring on 👀).

Yesterday, while listening to my usual liked songs on shuffle, a 21-year-old song came on and stopped me in my tracks. I’ve heard it plenty of times before, but this time was different.

I’ll be sharing those writings soon, but until then, consider this post a kind of TL;DR for the season I’ve just journeyed through.

The past weekend and these past few days have been full of emotion as I’ve started the process of writing down everything that’s happened over the last few months.

Now, off to write. ✍🏼

I’m not sure exactly what will come of the writing. Right now I imagine it may turn into six blog-style posts, but the form matters less than the process. What’s most important is simply doing the work of writing.

I already know this won’t be easy and I imagine it will take nearly every ounce of emotional energy I have. That’s why I’m so grateful Sarah will be by my side.

The retreat is part of my ongoing therapy. I’ll be spending the weekend writing about the past year, especially the ups and downs of my mental health journey.

Prayers needed. Prayers appreciated.

This evening Sarah and I are heading out on a weekend writing retreat and I’d be so grateful for your prayers.

I knew @aldiusa.bsky.social was cutting costs, but I didn’t expect to be checked out by a literal skeleton yesterday. 💀🛒

I asked if I could pay with cash, and he said, “Sorry, I only take crypt-o currency.” ⚰️ 🤣

A daily reminder of the life I long to live and the message I hope to embody during this part of life I never expected to be living. ✨

My hope is that each time I see them I’ll be reminded that, not only my words but everything I do, should be marked by grace and peace—just as the Apostle Paul demonstrated for all of us so beautifully. ✍🏽

After more than a decade of waiting, I finally got my Grace and Peace tattoos. 🙌🏼

Here’s to the next chapter—whatever it may hold. 🙂

Thank you for walking with me, encouraging me, and loving me so well through every season—even those seasons when you really just didn’t understand the choices I was making.

Through all the ups, downs, changes, and growth over these last 15 years, one thing has remained constant: the love and support I’ve received from so many of you.

But I didn’t want this day to pass without at least acknowledging the moment.
