Patting us on the head, tutting with sympathy at our situations and rattling buckets to provide us with charity won’t make us go away, decades of locking us up away and ignoring us didn’t work either and now we are too many, too visible, too needy and have unrealistic expectations.

Disabled people and parents demand better but govt and agencies response is to tell people they are not really disabled or disabled enough. They won’t need a diagnosis and mainly have ‘additional needs.’ Adults are told they are the responsibility of their families for ever.

Re U-turn/Sticking plaster on SNAs - government is supposed to have a disability unit to coordinate efforts and policy on disability across all depts. Time and again they get it wrong and still disabled people don’t have the services they need are are legally entitled to.

Decline in remote jobs risks shutting disabled people out of work, study finds Research project warns fall in homeworking roles could undermine efforts to reduce unemployment A decline in the number of jobs for people who need to work remotely, including those with disabilities, could undermine the government’s efforts to reverse rising unemployment, according to a two-year study.
