Military families are just as much a part of the American story as service members and veterans.
I know there is a lot of uncertainty right now, especially with the government shutdown. But I also know that we take care of our people.
At the very first hour of this shutdown, we took immediate steps to protect our people.
We will get through this moment the way we always have: together.
Gotta say, this agreement is pretty dam good.

These impacts hurt ALL of us.

Headline from WBALTV: โ'We're the ones feeling it': Gov. Moore calls on President Donald Trump to end government shutdownโ Subheadline: โGovernor Wes Moore delivered a gubernatorial address Wednesday night as we near the end of day one of the government shutdownโ
Why did Washington look at us and say, โYouโre on your ownโ?
Because the President of the United States couldnโt close a deal on making health care more affordable.
This agreement will reduce pollution flowing into the Susquehanna River and secure the future of one of our stateโs largest clean energy producers.

Real people are being hurt by President Trump, Speaker Johnson, and Leader Thuneโs decision to shut the federal government down.
Weโve created go.md.gov/FederalShutdown to help direct impacted federal employees and contractors to resources available to them.
This is the time for us to understand our power.
We will get through this moment as we always have: Together.
Washington, D.C. has broken their pact with all 50 states and weโre paying the price to the tune of $370 million every week.

Tonight, I will speak with you about how we got here.
Tune into MPT at 8:00 PM ET to hear about how this federal shutdown impacts you โ and our plan to fight back.
Governor Moore wishes Marylanders a peaceful and reflective Yom Kippur.
Tonight marks the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. To all Marylanders observing Yom Kippur, the First Lady and I wish you a meaningful fast and an opportunity for reflection and renewal. I want our Jewish community to know that we stand with youโtoday and always.
01.10.2025 22:30 โ ๐ 79 ๐ 17 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 1I know there is real and justified fear in our communities. The firings. The high prices. And the shutdown.
But in Maryland, we never let fear stop us from protecting each other. In the military, I learned to live by the motto Leave No One Behind.
Right now, that is exactly what we need to do.
Our federal workers want to serve. And we are working hard to help them to do it.

01.10.2025 13:28 โ ๐ 77 ๐ 22 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0ONCE AGAIN: Republicans control the White House and both chambers of Congress.
They have the power to keep the government open.
This shutdown will severely harm Marylandโs farmers and small business owners.
It will disrupt funding for crucial benefits like WIC โ which supports 183,000 Marylanders.
Hundreds of thousands of federal workers and government contractors could miss paychecks โ or see their jobs eliminated.
President Trump, Speaker Johnson, and Leader Thune can prevent this.
A federal government shutdown would disproportionately hurt Marylanders.
Republicans control the White House and both chambers of Congress.
They need to work together to stop this chaos and keep the government open.
Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are hurtling our country toward a government shutdown that would accelerate the assault weโve seen on our people and our economy from Day 1 of this White House.
The decision to refuse to come to the negotiating table is a choice.
I had the honor of joining Smith Islanders last week as the first sitting governor to visit since 1999.
Their community is only accessible by boat and thereโs only a few hundred people there, but it doesnโt make them any less important.
