CDC advisers delay vote on restricting infant hepatitis B vaccinations in tense meeting
From 1990 to 2019, reported cases of acute hepatitis B among kids declined by 99% due to infant immunization
“This disease has gone down in the United States thanks to the effectiveness of our current immunization program,” adviser Cody Meissner said.
“In your opinion,” vice-chair Robert Malone said, interrupting him.
“Uhh, these are facts, Robert,” Meissner responded. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Delaying the shot from birth to two months, one of the possible votes, would lead to at least 1,400 infections, 300 cases of liver cancer, and 480 deaths every year. It would also result in more than $222m in additional healthcare costs every year. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Here I am signing the discharge petition TODAY to FORCE a vote on banning stock trading for Members of Congress.
Everyone agrees this is wrong. Yet we still can’t get a vote.
That’s Washington. And yes, it’s frustrating.

Rand Paul could have prevented Pete Hegseth from being confirmed as Defense Secretary. Instead, he voted for him — a manifestly unqualified candidate — to run the Defense Department. Now, we're here.

The cable, sent to all U.S. missions on December 2, orders U.S. consular officers to review resumes or LinkedIn profiles of H-1B applicants - and family members who would be traveling with them - to see if they have worked in areas that include activities such as misinformation, disinformation, content moderation, fact-checking, compliance and online safety, among others.
Holy shit.
Reuters reporting that new admin instructions on visas are if you worked at a platform in trust & safety or content moderation or on fact checking or online safety at an platform you *and your loved ones* are ineligible for H-1B visa.

World map labeled “Global hepatitis B birth dose vaccination policies,” with many countries in green indicating universal HepB birth-dose, others in yellow (partially universal), orange (selective), and red (no birth dose).
A claim that the U.S. is an “outlier” for having a universal hepatitis B birth dose is false.
ACIP’s own September map shows many countries with universal birth-dose policies. We’d become an outlier only by rolling ours back.

The US is close to an institutional collapse across multiple public health agencies. Trump/RFK have purged anyone with expertise, many have fled and they’ve been replaced w functionaries who are either incompetent or malicious. I don’t think many understand how close to the edge we are right now.

NEW YORK-According to news reports, the Trump administration this week announced that applicants for H-1B visas for highly skilled workers would be subject to increased vetting, with an eye toward rejecting those involved in what it considers "censorship." A recent State Department cable reportedly requires U.S. consular officers to review applicants' resumes or LinkedIn profiles to determine if they have worked in areas related to misinformation, disinformation, content moderation, fact-checking, or trust and safety online.
The following can be attributed to Carrie DeCell, senior staff attorney and legislative advisor at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University:
"People who study misinformation and work on content-moderation teams aren't engaged in 'censorship' — they're engaged in activities that the First Amendment was designed to protect. This policy is incoherent and unconstitutional."
