i know sometimes people say the effect rotoscoping has on anastasia is creepy but personally i always really loved it lol
there's something really charming capturing all those little movements, it has so much personality

i really should rewatch that one, feel like i would appreciate it in a different way as an adult w some of the animation!

think when it comes to personal inspo i often think of these.....dunmeshi is definitely more recent but the fantasy elements with simplistic but effective character design is something i always really love

AW that would track bc i was obsessed w anastasia as a kid to a point of wearing out the vhs but i think don bluth especially now is too obscure to pinpoint for an average person so manga it is heh

a lot of my inspo also is like western media that was influenced by anime and manga so it's like. twice removed from the source but still has that vibe

think it's interesting how often my style is called manga when it comes to finnish illustration circles when i barely ever read any nowadays (though i do understand why)

i know the "let people enjoy things" approach to media is annoying, but there's a difference between being a tactful hater and going reply to reply being a miserable dork because they like something you don't.
