The edges of the cap are a light purple, and the top of the cap is a dark purple. Two blurry farther back mushrooms of the same kind sit above and below the in-focus mushroom

This strange fungi is tall, round, and grows straight up into the air. It's purple, smooth, and has a pointed tip. It's not at all like your typical mushroom and appears almost like a straight cylindrical purple plant. This one is growing out of moss-covered ground.

These are Purple Spindles, Alloclavaria purpurea. We found hundreds of them last year in a spot we'd never seen them at before
