The 7 Deadly Sins are Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath and Sloth. A list of vices or “sins” was first created by the 4th-century monk Evagrius Ponticus, who listed an original eight "evil thoughts" or spirits that he believed are the root of all other sins. The list was later revised to the well-known seven as stated. What are the 7 Heavenly Virtues? The 7 Heavenly Virtues are Humility, Charity, Chastity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness (or Generosity), and Temperance. The term "cardinal virtues" was first used by the 4th-century theologian Ambrose, who defined the four virtues as "temperance, justice, prudence, and fortitude.” Prior to Ambrose, these four qualities were identified by the Greek philosopher Plato as the necessary character traits of a good man, and were discussed by other ancient authors such as Cicero. These were also named as cardinal virtues by Augustine of Hippo, and were subsequently adopted by the Catholic Church. Do I have to be religious/Catholic/Christian to participate or indulge? Absolutely not! The 7 Deadly Sins are just human emotions/feelings/actions/behaviors at the end of the day!

Although the 7 Deadly Sins/7 Heavenly Virtues are taken from various Bible passages and a major motif in Catholic literature and teachings, your work does not have to include heavy religious themes. We would like to keep the religious tones within the context of the work for this week, but feel free to interpret each of the themes as you wish. So, do I have to follow the key notes or inspirations? The key notes and inspirations are there to guide you if you need some starting points, and they help explain what the sins mean and how they might translate into modern actions/behaviors/feelings. Short answer, no, you do not have to strictly follow the key notes and inspirations. However, we do lightly encourage following the key notes for the sake of staying on theme with each sin. We understand that religion can be a heavy topic and want to allow everyone to interpret and create their art (in all forms) however it speaks to them and/or speaks to Jayce and Viktor. Is Dead Dove: DNE content allowed? Yes! Dead Dove: DNE is used to emphasize the fact that the creative piece delivers on its explicit warnings. We ask that all works are tagged appropriately, if they are to be under the DD:DNE tag. Failure to do so will result in removal from the collection/will not be reposted. We do not want to limit creators in their artistic abilities and freedoms.

Although the official tag for the event will be #JV7DeadlySinsWeek, implying JayVik, of course VikJayce are allowed! The sins fit quite well for them as individuals and within their dynamic. What is confessional, really? Confession is a part of Christian denominations, typically. Most confessionals have an option to sit face to face with a priest, but all have the option of a screen or some other way to prevent the priest from seeing you, and you are usually in a booth, or separate room. It is when you go to confess all mortal sins and sometimes venial sins that you are aware of. You walk in, the priest makes the sign of the cross and then you say "Bless me father for I have sinned, my last confession was (BLANK) long ago" and then confess your sins. Once you are done the priest may ask a few questions, or give some advice, but then he absolves you. When the priest absolves you of your sins, he acts as a conduit of Christ, so you are receiving forgiveness directly from him. FACT: You can confess to murder and the priest cannot tell the police, because they are bound by the Seal of Confession.
