Blooms on Cowan Drive, June 2025
14.06.2025 23:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Periodically I do drawing of my photography in dye markers. This is a photograph that's been sitting on my desk for over the past year. Each time I look at it I think, that's so beautiful, I should do a color drawing of that. So eventually I did.

10.05.2025 16:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0She was a military wife, homemaker and teacher who made friends with everyone she met. She was infinitely skilled in the fiber arts creating clothing and home furnishings.
She was also a consummate musician. I have many happy memories of singing and playing music with her.
Remembering my mom today, Judi Welch-Schmidt (1940-2025). She was a dynamic individual: creative, imaginative and musical, who gave me my values and inspired my artistic temperament. She passed away Friday, May 9th, around 3:30 AM after succumbing to dementia and old age.

12.03.2025 01:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Roses can bloom any time of year if the conditions are right. This winter has been mild for the first two months, but February has been chilly and we've even had a bit of snow. I'm hoping this cold snap is just temporary.π π€πΉ
09.02.2025 15:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A close-up of daffodil leaves and bracts emerging from snow on the ground. Other plants, most likely iris leaves, are emerging as well and dark spots where the snow has begun to melt dot the composition field.
Daffodil leaves planted in a diagonal line from the lower right to the upper left emerge from a field of snow.

06.02.2025 21:28 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0On a bamboo cutting board can be found eight carrots and two good sized leeks. Two of the eight carrots on the far left are 9 inches while the remaining ones vary in size from four to six inches.
Two nine inch carrots on a cutting board are compared to a silver tape measure.
It kills me that I'm still harvesting from my kitchen garden this year. Most of the carrots are not worth writing home about but these two are nine inches long!

09.12.2024 17:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Against a jumble of green leaves and grey branches a very full and round yellow rose on a bent stalk is opening its petals towards the lower left while its large spikey dark green leaves touched with purple dominates the lower right. The petals are touched with a light red tinge giving the bloom, with multiple layers curling back gently at the edges, a peachy pink tone over the pale yellow base color. The effect is striking in its contrast to the background.

01.12.2024 17:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Close-up photo of an orchid flower with blurred support stakes in background. The bloom has a yellow-green color with variegated lines in a deep magenta which is echoed in the center petals protecting the pistil and stamen. The magenta pattern on the petals radiate from the center as short lines and lines of dots that concentrate and branch towards the edge. Green underdeveloped buds peak from behind petals to the right.

19.11.2024 16:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Delicate backlit pinky-peach roundels on a single stem create a pom-pom display against soft focus green leaves and three duplicate stems bearing magenta blooms and one open bloom in red off to the middle right. The background suggests out-of-focus view out a window where brown framework, greenery and lawn can be seen.
