When I think Takamine, I think acoustic guitars. That's why I was really surprised to see this sick electric bass they made in the 1980s. The Takamine GB410 bass is shaped like a Flying V, but with stubbier points and waist cutaways like on a violin. It's black with red trim, which I think looks awesome. It's got two P-pickups, and they're controlled by a volume knob, a tone knob, and a pickup balance knob.

Here's a black and white picture of bassist Israel Crosby playing a Regal Bassoguitar. It's basically an acoustic bass guitar that's so big that it has to be played like an upright bass. (You could probably play it like a guitar if you were sitting down, too.) These were made in the late 1930s, but didn't really start a big trend towards acoustic bass guitars. Everybody just used the regular doghouse basses.

The Kay K573 Speed Demon is a hollowbody electric with a single cutaway and one F-hole. It's got three single-coil pickups, and each one has its own volume and tone control. There's a rotary pickup selector where you'd normally find the pickup switch on a Les Paul.

I posted a Crucianelli guitar a while back, and here's another one, an Elite 40-V. This Italian guitar is a solidbody electric with an offset body shape. This specific one is red with a blackpickguard and a white stripe around the side of the body. It's got four pickups, with a gap between each set of two. (They probably could've fit a fifth pickup in there if they weren't cowards.) There are six plastic toggle switches above the strings (helpfully labeled ALL, T, B+T, M, B, and O), and a volume and a tone knob in the normal control area. The guitar also has a Jazzmaster-style trem.

I've posted a few 8-string basses on here, but I didn't know RIckenbacker had made any until today. This is one of two 8-string 4001 prototypes they made in 1974. Both of them have the same basic setup as the regular 4001 model. The bridge pickup is one of their massive horseshoes, and the neck pickup is smaller. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control, and there's also a 3-way switch. The difference between the two models is the way they're strung. Chris Squire's is set up with the octave strings above the bass strings like on Rickenbacker's 12-string guitars (in other words, eEaAdDgG), and John Entwistle's (the one in the picture above) is set up with the octave strings below the bass strings (EeAaDdGg). The weirdest part of the guitar is the wavy 4/4 split headstock. I've seen it referred to as a potato or a frog foot, and I can see the resemblance to both.

The Reverend Spacehawk Supreme is a signature model for Reeves Gabrels. It's an offset double-cutaway electric guitar with a pickguard over the pickups and two smaller ones on the horns. It's got three humbuckers that are controlled by a 5-way blade switch on the top horn. There's a volume knob (with a push/pull studio switch), a tone knob (with a push/pull phase switch), and a bass contour knob. There's also a kill switch on the bottom horn and a Bigsby trem.
