I just had to admit to my husband that I have no idea how to play chess and that, yes, we watched the entirety of Queen’s Gambit and I just had no fucking clue what was going on and I didn’t care enough to ask. It’s truly a testament to how well they played up the drama to keep me interested in it.

I miss the food there so deeply (and all of my friends who haven’t been priced out of the area yet 💀).

But dark humor is the best way to deal with the pain! I was absolutely feral with it for months after my dog died of kidney disease in 2019.

I’ll have to give the show another shot! I didn’t get far the first time and I did love their acting dynamic in Shameless a lot.

Ahaha I think I’d have an even harder time watching The Bear once he’s in it. I already struggle with going, “Wow, Lip sure can cook…” constantly.

Today started off with so much promise! My bread maker arrived and while the lovely smells of the freshly baked loaf were wafting through the house we get that tweet from the Orange Tyrant. I’m just so exhausted by even the simple pleasures in life getting ruined by his atrocities.

If you’re using a switch 1 (that feels weird to say), I highly recommend the hori split joy cons. They made it comfortable for my adult sized hands to hold the switch for hours on end. I’m currently mourning them not being available for the switch 2.

Even if I can binge watch Black Mirror? 😂

If you are also in need of a small distraction from the hellscape that is the US right now: Here’s my partner roasting me for probably the first (and likely last) time. My only defense is that my reading comprehension is leagues better than my audio comprehension.

As for my revelation: I had the lyrics up on Apple Music while the song was playing and my reading comprehension is leagues better than my hearing comprehension…

So I have a really good memory for song tunes and can sing along with them pretty well once the song is playing but uh… I guess I just never thought about the lyrics past singing along with them? I also thought it was about two people fighting I think. 😂

You know, yeah… I don’t have a good defense this time.

The feelings the game evoked in me were really similar to the ones I had when I played FFVII as a kid. And mind you, both my parents know far more about Cloud and his adventures than they ever wanted to. It’s been such a pleasure getting to feel so excited about a game like this in that way again.

The story isn’t clean cut, it’s messy and sometimes utterly devastating. But it has its heartwarming and delightful moments as well. I cared about every character so much and was so heavily invested in the world of Lumiere and the mysteries it holds.

I don’t think I’m going to get over Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for a long time. It gives me that same feeling of love and astonishment as games that I first fell in love with did.

I love the bookstore my mom used to work at for doing this.

Is it just a millennial rite of passage to have to repair the poor renovation decisions of the previous owners of the houses we fought tooth and nail to even afford to own in the first place? Because it feels like it is.

Why even take a class specifically about creative writing if you’re not going to even do the writing? I would’ve fought tooth and nail to take a class like that in college. I want to go back to the days of people writing fanfiction to improve their creative writing skills and not using LLM prompts.

I’m pretty sure at least part of the reason @maxnichols.bsky.social watches kdramas with me is because he likes joking about what is otherwise a romantic comedy suddenly having a serial killer plot in it. The problem? He’s actually spot on with his joke like 40% of the time…
