The protag switch does an absolutely AMAZING job of making sure the horror sections don't overstay their welcome or become desensitized, too! The actual gameplay role it serves shocked me at how effectively it works. That fun, tingly sense of dread I'd get when realizing it was Grace Time again 👀 A+

... do it if you want the extra tension in those horror segments. the nostalgia's why I chose it, but i'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it for the resource management w/ the ribbons

also I swear Bandai Namco knew how sad I'd be the moment I finished Requiem because they pushed out a QOL patch for Code Vein II last night lmao so, back to CV 2 -- but first, back to comic work!

What that means in a series where it's easier for me to tell you which games I DON'T like? idk, but I adored it and any criticism I may have is outweighed by how much fun I had and how much I liked it. Care Center one of the new top RE locations, easily.

Final, non-spoilery thought on requiem:

Absolutely loved it. In the end I think my ranking of Village (personal favorite), 4R (best RE game) stands true, but only because nothing can top Village for me and 4 and 4r are just perfect games. Requiem is easily one of my all time top favorites

oh man 4 is just. a good time, no matter which version you play! RE's one of my all timers, top faves so i'm biased and just going to sit on your shoulder going "PLAY THEMMMMMMM"

play it when you can... it's an *amazing* game 👀

but I do think that's why grace's sections work so well, they're so tense and heavily atmospheric--i'm playing on classic w/ ink ribbons so the threat of losing a lot of progress is eternally looming, and the perfect combo of "what actually spooks me" is in full swing here lmao

and I think the recurring pattern of "things that actually scare me" is something completely unexpected juxtaposed with "I"M GOING TO LOSE ALL OF MY PROGRESS".

RE8 baby is one of the only things to scare me as an adult because I WENT IN EXPECTING HAUNTED DOLLS. not...that thing lmao. so, Unexpected

I'm a huge horror fan across the board (movies, games, media in general. one of my favorite genres) and most things don't scare me really because i'm usually just geeking out, really engrossed in how cool everything is or (I just enjoy being chased lol). most that scared me good are from my teens

glad someone else agrees w/ me that the Moon from MM is absolute horror fuel. I've never fully replayed MM becuase the game stresses me out too much lol once was enough

and hell yeah! alien isolation is great! haven't played routine, will give it a look sometime!

as for re9! I want to be careful of saying anything too specific since the game's brand new, so "Most of Grace's segments have had at least one good, if not several good scares in them and CONSTANT TENSION. one of the most tense boss fights i've ever done"

RE1 dog hallway nearly sent me thru a wall, silent hill 2 double pyramid head chase stressed me tf out for w/e reason, RE8 baby nearly sent me thru a wall again... and it's not horror, but the majora's mask moon. just. idk that thing stressed me out more than any horror game ever, so I'm counting it
