It popped up on my StoryGraph year in review as the overall highest rated of all the books I read last year!

West coast friends missing Big Bad Con, Go Play is the only other con I’ve been to with similar values and spirit. It’s a small event that punches up up up. Buy a membership so we can play games together in Seattle this July goplaynw.org/membership-d...

SDPL Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture

Maggie Tokuda-Hall in conversation with Mike Sakasegawa of the Keep the Channel Open Podcast.

Tuesday March 10th, central library 6-8pm

Also a pic of my face from 10 years ago, I look great.

Who do I know in San Diego? I will be there next week at the SDPL and I am afraid that I do not have enough people there.

I will be talking about the Japanese American Incarceration, book bans, and what our current climate of censorship yields for us while simultaneous state sanctioned raids occur.

I know it’s difficult right now, but I insist that you seek and enjoy beautiful things, even if it seems frivolous or irresponsible in the face of overwhelming horror. I want you to feed yourself artistically, spiritually, and literally, because you can’t Do The Work when you’re starving.

Part of why I am insistent that public libraries must be expanded is because they can offer us a foundation for unleashing creativity and for nurturing imagination. This is an affirmative project at a time when we desperately need to be FOR things and not just against them.

Alysa Liu wins the Olympic gold medal for the United States YouTube video by Olympics

some thoughts on Alysa’s gold medal skate a day later

- this is maybe my absolute favorite skating performance ever? I know enough to understand it’s not the most challenging technical skate but the sheer infectious joy is unmatched

- I’ve watched this maybe 15 times

- I mean holy shit look at it

Pay Chesley Oxendine using PayPal.Me Go to paypal.me/COxendine and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.

Trying to raise $250 for medications. I'm on week one of what will be four and I am nigh totally nonfunctional. This is not sustainable for a month of effectively being unable to work.

Please honor James’ memory by getting screened for colorectal cancer. Make the call today if you are 45 or have a family history. Rates are surging among young people. Catching it early is the best way to survive it.

Sorry, I don't mean resources for how to go and protest. I mean readings about how public health and activism have interacted. Think the history of act up, in a way that is digestible for 20-year-olds who are thinking about it for the first time.

I am so tired of the Nextdoor posts about how no one uses that library. I went to that library three times last week. It was bustling every time.

You ever stop and think about CASABLANCA? You ever stop and think about "Welcome back to the fight, this time, I know our side will win?" You ever think about a bar full of people defiantly singing La Marseillaise, played by a soundstage full of Jewish refugees? You ever think about CASABLANCA??????

The information available ($24k for 10k words) makes YB&B 1st print THE BEST freelance writing payout I've ever heard of in TTRPGs. Even the base $3k for 10k words without bonus or royalties is higher than the top rate I've ever received and, in context of TTRPGs, a rate I'd call excellent.

and now that i can say this with mY full chest, ice and that entire administration.

Absolutely losing my mind over Ava, THE ROCK'S DAUGHTER, quitting WWE despite them offering her a raise to keep working a pretty cushy kayfabe general manager gig and then the day after her contract ends she posts this

A screenshot from Libby showing the cover of Hello Sunshine by Keezy Young: Alex is missing, but is he really gone? The book has been borrowed.

I love when I request that the library acquire something and then they get it! I’m looking forward to reading Hello Sunshine by @keezyyoung.bsky.social

I read all of Earthsea for the first time this year, and Tehanu in particular is such a masterpiece.

I think the best book I read this year was Tehanu by Ursula K. LeGuin, and I think the book that meant the most to me was Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir.

What books are coming out in 2026 that you are excited about?

Some that I am looking forward to are Daggerbound by T Kingfisher (sequel to Swordheart), The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig (sequel to The Knight and the Moth), and Seasons of Glass and Iron by Amal El-Mohtar.
