This is literally just to get me used to being rejected again so I can get on with submitting to places I might stand a slight chance with.

I have basically a 1 in 1000 chance of getting anything from the place I submitted my writing to that isn't a form rejection so I'd like my brain to stop being nervously hopeful thanks.

Yeah I mean mine was bad to the point where I was having endoscopies and considering having surgery to remodel my stomach until I got put on better meds and made significant lifestyle/diet changes

I stopped in favour of just having toast or a protein bar and suddenly I am symptom free wtf

Genuinely embarassed that the reason that I was unable to exercise and do all the shit I used to for like 2 years wasn't just that I have a hiatus hernia but also because I was having cereal each morning and didn't realise if I drink more than a tiny bit of milk I get horrible acid reflux.

Yeah thankfully I can dip in and out a bit and drop it when it goes down hill

The X-files is weird because by the time I was old enough to know what it was people seemed to view it as a show that had gone on too long and worn out its welcome, so I just internalised that view of it and didn't bother watching.

Made the mistake of watching the first few episodes of the X-Files recently and what do you mean its actually good and I was ignoring it for no reason?

Unfortunatley it just wasn't a big enough profit to keep the higher ups happy when they could make Star Wars games instead. Meanwhile Sierra wasn't killed by poor sales, but instead by a large corporate banking scandal that engulfed its parent and lead to most of its top talent leaving the company.

People will cite the commerical failure of games like Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island as the reason that Lucasarts abandoned adventure games in the 2000s. The reality is that every bit of info I can find indicates both turned a small profit.

If you look at the sales most traditional adventure games sold about as well after Myst's release as they did before. The real problem was the bloating of the budgets when they attempted to jump to 3D + executives assuming their games had to sell as well as Myst now or they weren't worth making.

Also very funny to see that the crowd who hated on these games perfectly replicated the backlash that Myst and Myst Clone games got in the 90s because they appealed to non-traditional gamers and 'ruined adventure games', something that if you look at the stats is laughably untrue.

Also very funny that Soma became a better experience to play through if you hit the option to turn it into a walking simulator.

Yeah Dear Esther is more an interactive experience than a traditional game. So? We've had those since the moment games were even a thing.

Playing them now they're literally just a slightly different style of game to what already existed then, I'm willing to bet a lot of them only got flack because one of the early prominent ones had a lesbian romance in it and it was the bigot awakening for a lot of angry young men.

Tweaking the section of my script about how I think there's a bit of Myst's DNA in some 2010s walking simulators and man did a lot of those games get done dirty by the screaming man child crowd back in the day.

Discovering that the downside of being in a writing group is that people will give you useful feedback and you will get better at both writing AND more importantly at editing too 😠
