Super Metroid X Fusion might be one of the most polished romhacks I've ever played

I actually feel like I'm playing a new mainline Metroid game most of the time. it keeps subverting my expectations in fun and interesting ways

i just used retroarch with a japanese rom. pretty painless! the story kinda speaks for itself anyway

if it helps, rondo does what all my favorite mega man entries do and encourages you to explore for hidden goodies (rescuing npcs, alternate levels that are arguably more fun than the main path, etc)

julius mode in dawn feels like a puzzle a bit, because some bosses feel designed to have you swap characters on the fly. you do level up, and you're forced down a somewhat gated path due to stats, but i don't always enjoy the characters in castlevanias where you just have free reign of the whole map

wanna make something so weird and so highly specific and so me and so uncategorizable that it breaks any llm it's fed into

Now is the time for every creator to create the most bananas, uncommercial, out-there, batshit stuff you've ever created. Let them feed THAT into AI and try and sell the results.

The solution, as it always should've been, is to GET WEIRDER

aria's story is way more interesting and i love the final area and boss and soul variety feel more interesting to me. i just adore how faithful dawn feels to the physics and aesthetic of sotn. and julius mode is really fun in that one. although i think they could have made yoko more useful
