Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s - The Dust of Retreat (2006)
A strong contender featuring whimsical baroque pop on “Paper Kitten Nightmare,” and distorted, violin-led alt rock on “Quiet as a Mouse.” “Jen is Bringing the Drugs” is a memorable and vulnerable folk cut.

Beirut - Gulag Orkestar (2006)
Has the amazing “Postcards from Italy” and another cool track called “Scenic World.”
Nietzsche is kind of dumb but gets a lot of credit for occasionally pointing out the obvious

Thom Yorke - The Eraser (2006)
First solo effort from the Radiohead vocalist. I don’t know that it lived up to my extraordinarily high expectations , but hearing Thom in a more strictly electronic setting was cool, especially on ‘Skip Divided’ and ‘Atoms for Peace.’

La Roux - La Roux (2009)
Awesome debut from the English Synthpop duo features superbly layered electronic production on tracks like “Reflections Are Protections,” “Tigerlily.” Elly Jackson’s vocals soar on Ben Langmaid’s synth lines , played it a lot in 2009.
I wish this was on streaming, I can’t remember if I’ve listened to it , Reset EP and Los Angeles era was definitely sick

Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More (2009)
a powerful debut from British folk band Mumford & Suns , featuring some strong hit singles in “The Cave” “Little Lion Man” and storytelling epics like “Dust Bowl Dance.” More sincere than the trends it inspired, much here to like.
i should think about getting a copy myself , since you mentioned it

Mike Jones - Who Is Mike Jones? (2005)
the debut album from Houston rapper Mike Jones on Asylum/Swishahouse , had unavoidable singles with “Back Then” and “Still Tippin” (ft. Paul Wall & Slim Thug) Also features Big Moe on “Flossin.” kind of repetitive but solid.

I’m From Barcelona - Let me Introduce My Friends (2006)
Swedish indie ensemble with 29 members playing banjo, omnichord, kazoo, saxophone and various other instruments. Some pretty fun and catchy pop songs here like “Collection of Stamps” “Rec+Play” and “Treehouse.”
it is theoretically possible and maybe even plausible that someone could shoot themselves with a gun on a fatal dose of heroin but as i’ve explained once before this would require a dose to take the edge off , ready the weapon , inject fatal dose , eight second window to fire by my calculations

40 Cal. - Broken Safety (2006)
The debut studio album from Dipset member 40 Cal. known from several freestyles battles on Fight Klub. The lyricism is generally the best part but the back to back run “Pyrexx Vision / Angel Dust” “We Got That Crack” alone is insane.

Only solo album from D12 member Proof , featuring Nate Dogg, 50 Cent, B-Real, Obie Trice, Eminem, and T3. Released on the ten year anniversary of Jerry Garcia’s death, it explores themes of fame and death. Some brilliant hardcore rap.
