Warning a defensive alliance that it faces a “very bad future” if it doesn’t convert itself into an offensive alliance is not terribly compelling.

US Military
Good at: large mechanised deployment with air superiority.
Very bad at: Guerrilla engagements.
Very bad at: Exit strategy.
Can't see this going well for the USA.
People with no idea of the risks to the mother during child birth. Need to look at mortality rates before we had modern science. Educate yourselves.
This is a dangerous policy which endangers both the mother and child. In an ideal world we all would be able to have natural births, we don't live in an ideal world.

I signed this letter. A lot of harm has been caused by ideological approaches to birth.
“We are a democratic party and our policies are determined by our members.” is a pretty terrible way to approach health policies.
A tax barrister sued me personally for £8m for libel after we linked him to a tax avoidance scheme.
Today the High Court struck out the claim, granted summary judgment, and ruled it was a SLAPP. The judgment is highly critical.
We've won the UK's first ever SLAPP suit - acting for @danneidle.bsky.social - and made some really important law protecting the right to call out barristers whose misconduct facilitates aggressive tax avoidance.
That photograph could have been taken almost anywhere at almost any time.
Could even be AI.
It's not evidence of anything.
My first day running Ed Davey's social media accs could've gone better tbh...🫣
Who exactly has "voted to cut Labour affiliation".
Was it all members (I was one until recently)?
Or just an inner circle cabal?
I've spoken to five current members and they haven't had a vote.
Fascinating thread from a US senator.
Interesting that as he cannot say anything which was briefed and classified, he lists what was not briefed.
Clever.

With every passing day, the decision of Starmer and his cabinet a) not to join the Iranian war b) to delay access to bases looks wiser and wiser. Trump’s press conference last night shows he has no real idea what the objectives are and its duration is arbitrary.

We don't have to wait for the law to catch up with the guy who does Nazi salutes and reposts racists - we could just stop using his extremist website
Very much hope that investigation is underway re: Johnson/Fartrage/Bannon and the ousting of May.
The best way to stop a drift to fascism is to arrest the leaders and charge them with the crimes they have committed.

The most informative pairing on all things Iran is back with what is becoming (sadly) a weekly slot. @snellarthur.bsky.social and Charlie Gammell offer actual insight rather than breathless speculation.
