New york state has plenty right now.
Just a couple simple #writinggoals for 2026 - get writing again on my second murder mystery and self publish a collection of short stories. This much, I can do.
The third, and probably final, volume of my poetry series, A Sanctuary Built of Words, is now out and available on Amazon. Hopefully in local bookstores soon. The short stories may take a bit longer. #writingeditingpublishing
Woohoo! It's publication day! This fantastic collection of stories includes a number of my writers group, so I know it is GREAT reading. It includes my story, Shifting Iwo Jima. #publicationday #sciencefiction #speculativefiction a.co/d/cbRSCwl
Posted a publishing update on melorajohnson.wordpress.com. 2 poetry books out, 3rd on the way, and a short story in a collection being released on Tuesday. I'm on a roll! Hope you all are finding some rest and respite in our crazy world. #writing #publishing #authorupdate
A Sanctuary Built of Words II - Poems on Peace, Nature and Parenting is now live on Amazon. I have ordered copies to sell locally, but I haven't quite figured out how to put it on Ingram yet. a.co/d/3is4aer #publishing #poetry
So, I did a thing last night. :) New book of poetry coming out in June! #writing #publishing #poetry
Netflix knows the score. I went into the app and the first row of options says, "You need a laugh?" Yes, yes I do.
I'm thinking of canceling my one standing order on Amazon and signing out of the site, just to scare them. I mean, if enough of us do it they might realize, "Oh, shit. They ARE mad."
Wintertime seems intent on encouraging hibernation. Still, we keep going. This morning, I was able to get poetry books dropped off for sale. I'll spend a few hours editing my upmarket mystery, thanks to notes from my wonderful writer's group. I wish you tasty caffeine!
In 2024, I finished writing an upmarket humorous murder mystery, pitched it to an agent, edited it into shape with the help of beta readers, submitted it in October, and received my rejection in December. In 2025, I'll keep editing and submitting. #can'tstopnow #writinglife #resolutions
I was describing to my husband what I like to read in a mystery and what I'm trying for in my books; Bridget Jones meets Phillip Marlow came to mind. :) But do most people know who they are anymore? #writinglife #mystery #humor

Merry Christmas Eve Day! It's time to make the kolaczky. But first, my wonderful husband sent me a little something pretty for the table so I thought I'd share. Now I just have to decide what Christmas Movie to put on while I work. #christmaspreparations #christmasmovies #christmascookies
Potentially, my new favorite Christmas cookie-orange chocolate shortbread. Perfect with The Muppets Christmas Carol and a cup of decaf coffee. #christmascookies #christmasmovies
I LOVE this Christmas gift, a beautiful stained glass dragonfly by my multi talented friend A.V. Rogers, author of the horror novel, The Dollhouse. Isn't it gorgeous? #thankfulforfriends #christmas2024
Happy Wednesday - almost halfway through the week before Christmas. More coffee! #sleepdeprivedparents #christmas2024
A reading teacher got me interested in the third grade when I was behind, and now I'm a librarian and author.
An old favorite for the Christmas season, a genre mash up. Little bit hard-boiled realism with some legend or fantasy, as you prefer. #merrychristmas #santa
"One of the great tragedies of mankind is that morality has been hijacked by religion. So now people assume that religion and morality have a necessary connection. But the basis of morality is really very simple and doesn't require religion at all."

Monday. Why is there never enough sleep on Sunday nights? #sleepdeprivedparents
I was planning to edit every day this weekend. Somehow that didn't happen. But I started Christmas decorating and cooked the last of the Welsh cakes. #christmasishere
The Welsh cakes were a little trickier than I thought but they tasted fantastic, and the pumpkin praline bread pudding went fast. The eggnog bread was a hit, as always. #christmasbaking #tryingnewthings
Sorry, no dm's.
Hemi says Happy Friday the 13th! He is remaining well behaved, in anticipation of Christmas. #blackcats #fridaythe13th #christmas2024
I'm working on editing an upmarket murder mystery right now, and I've started a second one. But I've written in many different genres.
Oh, no writing yet. Maybe in a bit. I try to get a bit of time in before bed.
Writing had to wait today while I made the Christmas bread, four loaves - two for giving and two for home. Pecan, walnut and cranberry. #writerslife #christmasbaking
