Sundogs over the Summer Isles, Coigach, Wester Ross.

Honestly the Summer Isles are real. We don't do the naked dancing , the cold or the midges would put a stop to that nonsense if anyone took the notion.
We do have festivals though , again no naked dancing involved.

A Heron standing in the evening sunshine being reflected calm water. A Glaucous Gull bowing for the camera.

A Heron and a Glaucous Gull enjoying very different weather on the loch of Reiff.

A stoat climbing up a rylock fence at night .

My trail camera fell down so instead of getting film of an animal nibbling at the block of butter I'd put on top of the post, I got a snippet of The Great Escape. No Ives you'll never make it.

Petition: Call a public inquiry into pro-Israel influence on politics & democracy We are concerned about reported Israeli state-linked and pro-Israel lobbying activity in UK politics. We believe it is important to determine the scope and impact of any such influence campaigns.

A sorry we couldn't deliver your parcel message from Evri with a photo of a slab of wood , a dessert or just a smear.

I wonder, is the dread of finding out your parcel is with Evri a self fulfilling prophecy? Also,I don't understand the point of these pictures but this one does make a change from the usual knee shot.

Two cool and modern cows from the big city who thought they could finally have some time alone, at the top of some steps, to talk about the possibility of making their relationship polyamorous, and are annoyed because I have disturbed them.

THREAD. A collection of photographs of excellent cattle I have met on walks.

You will find the captions for the photos in the alt text.

A pheasant who gets highly annoyed at people constantly accusing it of not being a real pheasant, with real feelings, and of actually being made by hand by a talented member of a community fibre arts group.

THREAD.

A collection of photographs of birds I have met in the UK countryside.

You will find the all-important captions to the photos in the alt text.

A couple of Snow Buntings seemingly posing for an 80s duo album cover.

Just had couple of those lovelies visiting Reiff too, the first in a long while.

The Village Message Board Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't...

An icy road with a full moon peeking through a snow cloud.

That was a crunchy drive home this morning, the slush that the wind hadn't blown off the road has frozen. This is the coast so I'm guessing it's very bad inland.

Looking out over a very calm blue/grey landscape without even the tiniest speck of whale visible

I finally got a bit of spare daylight so zoomed off up to Culnacraig for a bit of whale spotting, just missed them but got there in time to see their feathered entourage disappearing behind Isle Martin. Anyway it was a nice enough afternoon.

Bridget the cat infiltrates the 'Abbey Road' cover shoot and becomes THE definitive fifth Beatle.

THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...

Stanley Baxter - Parliamo Glasgow - Mia Farra's farra, the marra & the barra YouTube video by Cheeseford

Stanley Baxter death
Sad to hear this one off extraordinary comedic genius has died. There is no other comedian to compare with his range of genres he had to make people laugh.
Not a bad epitaph for a life well lived.
